Specsavers

Specsavers were established in 1984 and in 2009 they were voted the most trusted optician for the 8th year running by Reader’s Digest. Specsavers are one of the biggest opticians in the UK, controlling 39% of the British market for eyecare and they also have a vast amount of stores worldwide, totalling 1,390 including the UK.

Specsavers Eye Tests

Specsavers believe that individuals should have an eye test at least once every two years. Specsavers eye tests can pick up on unknown and underlying illnesses and also vision problems, it is therefore important to have your eyes checked regularly to ensure the complex organs of the body are healthy and our eye sight remains at its optimal level.

Before having a full eye test at Specsavers, an optical assistant will first carry out a pre-test in order to check that your eyes are healthy ready for the full examination to be carried out. The pre-test will involve some very simple, plainless tests such as checking your field of vision and using a camera to take photos of the inside of the eyes.

You will then begin the full examination with a Specsavers optician who will make sure you are comfortable and have a general chat with you about your lifestyle and vision to date. The Specsavers optician will then carry out a number of tests such as the eye test chart (reading letters from top to bottom) which you will more than likely have had experience with. There will be a number of tests for which you may be unfamiliar with but the optician will explain what these are and why these are being carried out.

At the end of the eye test the Specsavers optician will gather your results together and then discuss them with you. It may be that you require prescription glasses or contact lenses; however the optician will talk you through all the options that are available to you and give you the chance to ask any questions in order to make sure you leave knowing about your eye health.

The Specsavers eye tests are totally painless and will last approximately 20-25 minutes.
